Named after: Frederick Sanger (1918 – 2013)
Frederick Sanger was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1958 for the sequence of amino acids of the hormone insulin. He then won another Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1980 for his contribution concerning the determination of base sequences in nucleic acids.
